DESCRIPTION:Please Join Us on Memorial Day\, Monday\, May 25\, 2026\, at 9 a.m. in Lake Bluff – It Takes A Village to Commemorate This Day! \nEveryone is invited to gather on the Village Green on Monday\, May 25\, at 9 am for Lake Bluff’s Annual Memorial Day Observance to honor the men and women who lost their lives in the military service for our nation. \nEveryone is also invited to arrive early to practice raising the flag\, for a first-ever Community Flag raising. Please meet at 8:30 am at the flagpole on the Village Green if you can help! \nThis year\, featured Keynote Speaker is Charles R. Walgreen\, who served in the US Marine Corps from 1980-1983\, and Ellen Dimock\, a Gold Star Mother\, is a Guest Speaker. \nEvent participants include: \nLake Forest High School Band\, under the direction of LFHS Music Director Janene Kessler; \nLake Forest High School Vocalist Lily Kienzle; \nLake Forest High School Musicians Marcus Dan and Isiah Okhotin; \nPastor Rachel Mumaw-Schweser from The Union Church of Lake Bluff; \nLake Bluff Village President Regis Charlot; \nLake Bluff History Museum President Kathy O’Hara; \nLake Bluff resident Elie Border; \nLake Bluff Scout BSA Troop 42 and Cub Scout Pack 42 \nChristopher Fischer\, Lake Bluff Troop 42 Eagle Scout (2014)\, serving as Master of Ceremonies \nLake Bluff Middle School Band and Sound Director Daryl Beese handles the sound for the event and Jeanie Fanning and Erin Fanning from Twigs Florist donate the wreath placed at the War Memorial at the conclusion of the Observance \nLake Bluff Troop 42 Assistant Scout Master Aquiles Fischer coordinates the event\, with assistance from Village of Lake Bluff staff Shelton Clark\, Drew Irvin and other staff members. \nSpecial thanks to all the volunteers who come together to raise the flag and make this Memorial Day Observance in Lake Bluff possible and to the community members\, friends and guests who attend.  Everyone is welcome! \nIn case of bad weather\, the Observance moves across the street into the Lake Bluff Fire Station

SUMMARY:Workday: Blue Star Landscaping and Flags in Village Flower Boxes
DESCRIPTION:The Lake Bluff Garden Club is refurbishing the Blue Star Memorial Garden in front of the train station as part of the village’s USA 250th observations.  \nBlue Star Memorials were started by the Garden Clubs of America to honor all who serve or have served in the armed forces.  \nOn May 9\, the Club will replant the garden around the Blue Star Marker with native forbs and grasses. These plants were chosen for their beauty and the ecosystem benefits they provide.  \nA big thank you to Public Works for their assistance in removing the old shrubs and preparing the bed! \nA memorial re-dedication is being planned for later this fall\, so keep watching the website and social media(@LBStyle250) for updates.
